Regional and Sub-Regional Gross Value Added (GVA) Estimates 2009
On the 9th of December, the latest Gross Value Added (GVA) data was released for regions and nations of the UK. Th data is a key measure of economic activity of an area and includes information on total economic activity, economic activity per resident and the economic activity produced by industries within each region/nation. The ONS regional team have produced a North West Summary document and together with a briefing for the North of England

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has today, 9th December 2009, released regional (2008) and sub-regional (2007) gross value added (GVA) estimates. The ONS Regional Team has produced a Northwest Summary document together with a briefing for the North of England.
Regional and Sub-Regional Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI) Estimates
On the 2nd April 2009, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) released the regional and sub regional Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI) estimates for 2007. The ONS regional Team has produced a Northwest Summary and North of England Summary.
In the March 2007 Budget Report the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced the introduction of the Office for National Statistics regional statistical teams based in each of the nine regions of England.
Since March, regional teams consisting of two members have been working to meet the needs of an ever-increasing interest in regional and area-based policy.
In the North West, Gary Wainman (Regional Statistician) and a Rachel Young (Regional Analyst) are the regional statistical team. They will work with organisations across the North West to improve the quality and accessibility of ONS regional data, and to assist partners in the analysis and exploitation of government data sources. Their aim is to improve the regional evidence base used to underpin regional strategies and performance evaluation across the regional and sub-regional partner network.
They are both keen to meet with users of government data across the North West and would be happy to hear from anyone who feels they would benefit from their expertise, whether it's advice on a data source or appropriateness of analysis.
