The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has developed new annual local area datasets called the Annual Population Survey (APS) household datasets. They allow production of family and household labour market statistics at local areas and for small sub-groups of the population across the UK.
APS household datasets cover the calendar period of January to December for individual years from 2004.
The APS household micro data will be available through the UK Data Archive (UKDA) at Essex University where it can be accessed by academic institutions and members of the public. Access to the data is through a Special Licence (SL) file which while limiting user access, allows for household variables to remain on the dataset, lower geographical coding and no age banding.
