Research and Intelligence
This section provides access to publications, datasets and reports/briefing produced by the team on subjects related to the Economy, Society, Environment, Skills, Tourism and Places along with reports produced by the Regional Economic Forecasting Panel. Our quarterly e-briefings and data release calendar also appear in this section in addition to datasets, publications and reports/briefings that cut across all our themes. For the past 2 years the Research & Intelligence Unit has developed the evidence base for Future North West (formerly RS2010).
The Research Team operates a Research Programme to supply timely, high quality and accurate data, information and intelligence to both support the strategic need of the Agency and will ensure a comprehensive evidence base to influence the economic development of the region in the future. Outputs from projects undertaken through the Research Programme are also published in this section.
The publication search may help you to find more specific information.

Data Release Calendar:
The Office for
National Statistics (ONS) manages thousands of past and future
statistical publications from ONS and the Government Statistical
Service in other Government Departments. Future releases are
announced up to a year in advance. The RIU produces a data release calendar which summarises
important releases due out in the next few months and
details what they contain.
Cross Cutting Data &
Publications:
Below are links to a number of
datasets and publications that provide information and
intelligence across all of our themes.
The Databook, compiled by the RIU is split into two sections. The first section contains information on the Northwest, its sub-regions and local authorities whilst the second section presents information on the Northwest and other regions.
Regional
Trends
Regional Trends is an online publication from ONS.
It brings together official statistics, analysis and guidance
to assist those with an interest in places in the UK to understand
the complex relationships between locations and the people who live
there.
Neighbourhood
Statistics
The Neighbourhood Statistics Service (NeSS) provides detailed
statistics and allows users to search within specific
geographic areas. The site also provides summary reports
for local neighbourhoods. Datasets covered include health,
housing, education, deprivation, age, ethnicity and 2001 Census
data.
